windmill picture Windmill

A Dutch treat: a trading vessel slowly comes into view along a canal lined with buildings and a distant watermill. The artist who designed obviously had some fine art training. I suspect that it may be based on an original "fine art" painting. If not, it rises above the mundane. The lighting subtly suggests a specific time of day. The highlights on the building roofs and reflective shadows on the water suggest that it is either sunrise or sundown, the boatmen may be leaving to fish or returning with the catch. Nice use of rural and urban elements. Almost photographic, though simplified for the medium.
